Friday\, March 12\, 2010  11:45 amBest Western Park Plaza Hotel  Puyallup\, Washington      Mike Egan was raised in Puyallup\, Washington\, and graduated from Puyallup High School as the Student Body President and State Debate Champion.\n     Mike then attended the University of Washington.  He was elected Student Body President of the University in 1990\, representing 33\,000 students and serving on the University's Board of Regents.  \n     After graduating from the UW with a degree in political science\, Mike was asked by Congressman Norm Dicks to serve on his staff in Washington\, D.C.  Mike served as the Congressman's Legislative Assistant\, focusing in the areas of education\, transportation\, housing and agriculture.  Mike worked in the United States Congress from 1991 through 1995.  \n     In 1996 he accepted a position in the United State Senate\, where he served as the Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Patty Murray.  Mike spent the next four years in the U.S. Senate preparing speeches for the Senator\, handling appropriations issues\, and advised the Senate on domestic policy. \n     After Senator Murray's reelection in 2000\, Mike was asked by Microsoft to return home to the Pacific Northwest to manage the company's external affairs.  Mike's work at Microsoft involves managing government affairs and community outreach. This includes leading the visits of dignitaries to Microsoft\, such as the as the meeting between Bill Gates and the President of China. Mike currently serves as the Director of Corporate Affairs for Microsoft.  \n     Mike has served on the Board of Directors for Good Samaritan Hospital\, the University of Washington-Tacoma\, the Puyallup Fair  Foundation\, Youth and Government\, the Washington Council for International Trade\, and the University of Washington Alumni Association. Mike is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation.  \n     Mike was voted "Funniest Person in D.C." three straight years and has served as the Emcee for the annual Gridiron Dinner in Seattle and the annual Potlatch Dinner in D.C. Mike has been asked to speak at Puyallup High School's commencement five times. Mike and his wife Karyn reside in Seattle. \n   As technology continues to change and grow at an astonishing rate it is hard to imagine what might come next.  Mike will present what exciting things Microsoft is doing to invent the future of our world and workplace.
